They know who you did last weekend.

It never stops to astound me how much some teachers actually know about their students social lives. 

I was friends with a teacher once, well, he wasn't my teacher obviously, but he'd taught at a middle school. He told me how insanely much teachers actually gossip about students in the teachers lounge, while having to appear officially objective and indifferent to all students. 

Personally, I like to think I understand constellations between other people and groups, even if I don't know them personally, but we young people are connected in a sort of network from which no one is completely excluded, everyone somehow indirectly knows everyone. 

I didn't realize teachers had a part in this too. 

Some just don't understand anything that goes on between students at all, or maybe even don't care, but often I guess teachers just pretend not to understand how things are connected, to not have to get dragged into it. At any second they can step in an surprise you with how much insight they actually have. 

I'm not sure if that's scary or comforting.
