What I'm about to explain is a syndrome related to past relationships, and I'm sure you've all experienced it in some form. It's that, whenever you strike out with a new boy or girl, you run back to your ex.
Now, if you happen to be the ex in question, this can really be very confusing, mainly because you don't know what they want, and how you may respond to every possible scenario. Often, you can rule out that they want you back, but its' quite difficult to be around someone you used to have feelings for - and maybe even still do - while you don't know what they expect from you. Do they want someone to reassure them of their self-worth and lovability, or do they want someone to jump into bed with? Either way isn't really quite enough when every time you get close enough to feel their scent, everything comes back to you at once and washes over you like a wave.
